City Catering shortlisted for ‘Excellence in School Food’
We are delighted to announce our Cooking At Home project has made it through to the finals of the APPG 'Excellence in School Food’ Awards. The winner will be announced at the awards evening on Thursday 3rd March 2022.
Our ‘Cooking at Home’ project was created to inspire households to explore every day, family friendly and adaptable healthy home cooking. The Cooking at Home project provides recipe-led grocery boxes to families during the school holidays as well as online support with a wide range of accessible family friendly recipes which are all available on our YouTube channel.
The APPG awards are aimed at recognising excellence in innovation and individual commitment and will provide us with an opportunity ‘step forward and shine’ and showcase the great work our kitchen and operation team have been doing.
The APPG School Food Awards have been extremely competitive, with organisations taking part from across the UK. Only the best submissions had been shortlisted in each category.
We are elated to have been selected in the groups category. Our Charitable Impact Manager, Jessica Clasby-Monk spoke of her delight at the nomination:
"The Cooking at Home project started in the first lockdown as a way to support families at that time, and has grown and developed since thanks to successful grant funding and donations. We are really proud to have been able to continue to support so many families - often 900 at a time, working closely with 30+ schools. We are so grateful for the essential support of our partners, Harvest Fine Foods also. It's been a lot of hard work, from many people, and I'm delighted that this and the positive impact of it has been recognised by APSE and the APPG School Food network."
The winner will be announced at the Awards presentation evening, held at the Nottingham Belfry Hotel on Thursday 3 March 2022.
