City Catering Southampton wins EBP South Amazing People Award

City Catering Southampton were joint winners of the EBP South Amazing Business Involved in Hosting or Participating Work Experience. The UK’s first charitable catering non-for-profit won the award for providing work experience placements to students across Southampton over eight years.

Rachel Hall, CEO of City Catering Southampton said: "We are delighted to have won the 2018 EDP South's Amazing Business Award which highlights our continued commitment to Southampton families. We exist to make a tangible difference to people’s lives, and we will continue to provide opportunities to students who want to take their first steps into the world of work.”

Each work experience placement follows a task list covering the essentials of food hygiene, health & safety, fire safety, COSHH, food preparation and cooking tasks. City Catering Southampton often supports learners with last-minute placements to ensure that students do not miss out on work experience opportunities.

The awards celebrated the dedication of businesses, schools and volunteers to connecting young people to the world of work; young people were awarded for their achievements through the careers and work opportunities that they had participated in. This year 45 businesses, volunteers, schools and students were shortlisted from across the South Coast with 15 winners and 5 students recognised for their achievements.
